“Everyone participates in the amount they want”: A kitty was opened online Monday for the benefit of the family of the 24-year-old firefighter who died last weekend. Tuesday, July 4 in the morning, about 18,000 euros had already been collected.
“By contributing to this kitty, you are providing direct support to his loved ones because all donations will be donated to Dorian’s family”, states the text of the kitty, broadcast on Leetchi. Dorian Damelincourt died on the night of Sunday to Monday in Saint-Denis while he was fighting a vehicle fire in an underground car park, without a link being established with urban violence. He was intoxicated by the fumes, according to a police source quoted by AFP.
Fake kitties
Following his death, several fake online kitties circulated, explains the Paris Fire Brigade (BSPP) to 20 Minutes. The BSPP claims to have closed three fake pots.
“There is only one that is valid, it is the kitty created by Philippe Durieux on behalf of the DOSSP (Association for the development of social works of the firefighters of Paris), which fights daily for support the families of deceased firefighters and injured firefighters and the Paris firefighting community in general”, explains a communications officer from the brigade to 20 minutes. Philippe Durieux is the general manager of the association.
