An ongoing fire in the Corbières along the A61 motorway disrupts traffic

A fire, of accidental origin according to the Aude prefecturedeclared this Thursday at the beginning of the afternoon on the edge of the A61 motorway in the Narbonne-Toulouse direction, not far from the Corbières rest area, near the town of Capendu.

Due to the wind, the flames jumped the highway and the fire is now spreading towards the mountain of Alaric. The firefighters deployed significant resources to stop the advance of the fire, supported by Canadairs and Dash planes.

The disaster causes many disturbances on the A61 motorway, where several kilometers of traffic jams have emerged. If traffic has not been cut off, motorists are asked to exit before the area concerned.
