The little history of Componibili
The Componibili was born under the name “mobili 4970/84” in the 1960s. It was created by Anna Castelli Ferrieri for Kartell, a publisher known for its taste for innovation in terms of design and technology, and which he still shines today by working with new materials that appear on the market.
The Componibili is characterized by its design. It is modular as desired, since it is made up of different elements that can be stacked to create tailor-made storage. Its other specificity is its colorful look, which gives it a playful note, very in tune with the pop spirit of the sixties.
Over time, the Componibili is regularly available in new colors.
If the original Componibili has a rather sober look, Kartell does not hesitate to offer more exuberant variations, for example with a jewel-like chrome finish, or more playful, like the Componibili Smile, created by Fabio Novembre in tribute to Anna Castelli Ferrieri.
Collaborations (here with Inter Milan) and limited editions: Kartell’s emblematic creation refuses nothing!
When it was created in 1967, the Componibili was made of plastic – one of the flagship materials of the decade. It is now offered in a so-called “Organic” version, made using a biopolymer made from raw materials from renewable sources, of agricultural origin, non-GMO and not intended for the food chain. This model, available in pastel colors, is a fixed, non-stackable structure with a matte finish.
In addition to its timeless look, the Componibili owes its success largely to its functionality. Not only does it adapt to all interiors, but it is also designed for outdoor use. From the bedroom to the balcony via the living room or the bathroom, it is one of the designer pieces on which you can count on for the long term, since it folds without worry as needed at the moment.
Componibili: which look to choose to adopt it without missing out?
The Componibili comes in such a variety of looks that it’s enough to make you dizzy. The moment of choice can therefore be delicate!
If you are looking for a piece that will resist all trends, the safest thing is to opt for a neutral color such as black or white.
Fan of a very colorful interior? To avoid bad taste, white or black are again good options. To add a chic and original touch to the decor, opt for a chrome model. In either case, you will have a model that will still work, even if you completely revamp the decor.
The most daring alternative is to integrate Companibili into a monochrome decoration or a very graphic two-tone palette made up of two contrasting shades.
Componibili is finally the perfect ally for introducing a few touches of dynamic color into the decor.
How to integrate Componibili into your interior?
Able to make itself small or stand out, the Componibili adapts to all spaces and all atmospheres: there are therefore many ways to adopt it at home.
The classic option is to install the Componibili as a bedside table. An alternative to the traditional white bedside table in the Scandinavian bedroom, it is also great in a chrome or colored version to add a twist to a vintage bed.
The Componibili replaces the traditional pedestal table to give style to a passage space: corridor, entrance or landing.
It is also installed in a lost space, such as the window, the corner of the room or under the stairs.
All round, the Componibili is a nice choice for bringing a designer touch to a child’s bedroom.
In the bathroom, the Componibili is the ideal companion for the freestanding bathtub, since it allows you to discreetly store soap and shampoo, while always having them within reach.
In the living room, the Componibili is generally used as an end table. You can also count on it to adopt the 2024 coffee table trend: two associated tables or end tables, instead of a single large model. It’s up to you whether you opt for two Componibilis or a mix and match!
To bring a resolutely designer look to the living room, have fun combining the Componibili with an armchair just as iconic as it like the Louis Ghost chair or the Roly Poly.
The Componibili is finally a smart choice for setting up an office area in the living room or bedroom without ruining the decor.
