The alert was given around 6:15 p.m. A man is said to be entrenched in an apartment on rue de Fougères, not far from the Gayeulles roundabout, north of Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine). According to our information, the maniac would be armed and would not be alone entrenched in the apartment. The police do not know for the moment if it is a hostage taking. The RAID was called and goes to the places where the man is entrenched.
Quickly, a security perimeter was established by the police. The few curious people who were around the scene were asked to leave. “We were told to get out, that there was an armed guy”, explains a witness to 20 minutes. The police were then armed and hidden behind their vehicle or armed with a shield, specifies this same witness.
