An AP-HP agent tries to kill himself in Saint-Louis hospital

An agent of the AP-HP (Assistance publique-Hospitals of Paris) tried to commit suicide, this Monday at the end of the morning, in an office of the Saint-Louis hospital, in the 10th district of Paris, announced the Paris prosecutor’s office at 20 minutes, confirming

Severely burned, he was admitted in absolute emergency in intensive care and his prognosis is engaged, added the prosecution. A security guard, who tried to rescue him, was badly burned. The latter “was admitted to the emergency reception service,” said the AP-HP. But he is no longer hospitalized at present, said the prosecution.

The Paris prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation to find the causes of the injuries and the investigations have been entrusted to SAIP 10, the prosecutor’s office also told 20 minutes.

“Great psychological difficulty”

The victim was “in great psychological difficulty”, confided a police source to our colleagues, adding that the victim had expressed “the desire to end his life”. Support and psychological support have been set up at Saint-Louis hospital for the rest of the staff. The director of the university hospital group AP-HP Nord-Université de Paris and the director of the hospital went there immediately after the tragedy.

A spokesperson for the Paris fire brigade (BSPP), who intervened at the scene at noon, told AFP that “a person would have set himself on fire” and that “a staff of the ‘hospital would have intervened to extinguish it with a fire extinguisher. A version corroborated by the town hall of the 10th arrondissement which mentions “a hospital caregiver who would have set himself on fire” before being “rescued by the security guard who was right next to him”.
