As an Oscars host, Amy Schumer witnessed first hand Will Smith slap comedian Chris Rock in the face. Now she has commented on the incident in detail for the first time.

Actually, she cracks the jokes on stage. But on Oscar night, which Amy Schumer co-hosted, her jokes took a back seat after Chris Rock made fun of Jada Pinkett Smith and received a slap in the face from Will Smith.

A few days after the award, Schumer mentioned the scandal in an Instagram post, which she deleted a short time later. Over the weekend, she opened up at a comedy show in Las Vegas. “I don’t even know what to say about the Oscars, I really don’t know what to say, I don’t have any jokes about it. All I can say is I don’t know if you guys saw that, but Will Smith slapped Chris Rock. Did you read that in your newsfeed?” Schumer joked onstage.

“I was feeling good, but then suddenly Ali came up,” she said, referring to Muhammad Ali, who played Will Smith in a biopic. “It was just horrific. All I can say is that it was really sad and I think it says so much about toxic masculinity. It was really upsetting but I think the best way to comfort us would be, if I told the Oscar jokes I wasn’t allowed to tell on TV,” she said, making good on the promise right away.

Which of their jokes have been banned

Several of her jokes have been removed, including a joke about allegations of sexual harassment against James Franco, a joke about controversial podcaster Joe Rogan and the fatal accident on the set of “Rust”. “I wasn’t allowed to say anything about it, but you can just come up and smack someone,” Schumer said.
