process continues for the time being

Former spouses Amber Heard and Johnny Depp are locked in a bitter legal battle. In 2018, the “Aquaman” actress wrote in the “Washington Post” that she had been a victim of domestic violence. She didn’t mention Depp’s name in the article. However, the 58-year-old sued Heard for defamation.

Heard’s lawyers now called for the dismissal of Depp’s lawsuit after the end of the evidence. The reason for this is that the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star cannot sufficiently prove his allegations. However, Judge Azcarate did not drop the charges. From their point of view, the jury could find that Heard’s statements in the “Washington Post” were defamatory. The process will continue for the time being. As early as Wednesday (May 4th), the evidence of Heard’s legal team could begin.

Johnny Depp is suing Amber Heard for $50 million in damages. He claims the Washington Post article seriously damaged his career. His agent Jack Whigham said last according to media reports in court that his client had made massive financial losses as a result of the published article. In February 2015, Depp and Heard married. However, the marriage did not last long. A year later, Heard filed for divorce. Later she was in a relationship with Tesla founder Elon Musk (50), who opposed the first US media reports will not testify for his ex-partner in the trial.
