Amal and George Clooney traveled to Venice for the Venice Film Festival. The two shone as a stylish duo upon arrival.
George Clooney (62) and wife Amal (45) honor the Venice Film Festival. This Tuesday (August 29), the couple arrived in the Italian lagoon city and cut a stylish figure. The actor wore a dark blue polo shirt and paired it with light blue pinstripe pants. His look also included mirrored sunglasses and brown suede shoes. Amal Clooney wore a white sheath dress with a fine floral pattern in black. Strappy pumps and a handbag, both also in black, and statement sunglasses completed the look. The two are said to have stayed at their regular hotel, Cipriani, which they reached by boat.
The Clooneys have a special connection with Italy. In September 2014, the couple married in Venice. Previously, Clooney had already put down roots on Lake Como and invested millions in various properties there. With his wife and their twins Ella and Alexander (6), he again spent an extended family vacation this summer in his Villa Oleandra in the tranquil little town of Laglio.
Film festival of a different kind
The Venice Film Festival runs from August 30th to September 9th. Ironically, fewer stars than usual are expected for the 80th anniversary edition. Due to the double strike by Hollywood writers and actors, members of the actors’ union SAG-AFTRA are also banned from promoting works they have worked on during the strike.
The theatrical release of “Challengers” starring superstar Zendaya (26) was even postponed from September this year to April 2024. Originally, the work of “Call Me by Your Name” director Luca Guadagnino (52) was supposed to open this year’s Venice Film Festival. But the producing studio MGM, which is behind the film, probably feared that “Challengers” would not receive enough attention without Zendaya’s presence at the Lido. Sofia Coppola’s (52) upcoming biopic “Priscilla” about Elvis Presley’s (1935-1977) wife Priscilla Presley (78), on the other hand, apparently received a so-called interim agreement from the actors’ union SAG-AFTRA, which theoretically allows the stars of the film, Jacob Elordi (26) and Cailee Spaeny (25) travel to Venice to promote their work there.
