Altomünster: 65-year-old and 17-year-old fall with a hang glider – Dachau

A motorized hang glider crashed into a field between Altomünster and Weil on Sunday evening around 7:10 p.m. As reported by the Dachau police, the 65-year-old pilot and his 17-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries. The 65-year-old launched his kite from a landing pad near Altomünster. According to the police’s current knowledge, the pilot had to initiate an emergency landing shortly afterwards due to a technical defect. The powered kite touched down in an adjacent field from a height of around 20 meters on approach and rolled over several times.

An ambulance had to take the 65-year-old and 17-year-old to the hospital. According to the police, the property damage is around 20,000 euros. Task forces from the fire brigades from Altomünster, Eisenhofen and Schiltberg as well as the THW secured the scene of the accident and cleaned up spilled operating materials.
