Last weekend the planned men’s descents on the Matterhorn were canceled. Now it’s also affecting women.

The first Women’s downhill run on the Matterhorn cannot take place due to strong winds. The World Ski Federation FIS canceled the race in view of the unfavorable forecast in the morning.

The start had previously been postponed by 45 minutes to 12.30 p.m. The training could only take place partially beforehand. A second attempt is planned for Sunday.

Last weekend, a lot of fresh snow and strong gusts of wind led to the cancellation of the two planned men’s downhill runs from Zermatt-Cervinia. The route on the world-famous Matterhorn begins at an altitude of more than 3,000 meters on the Swiss side, and the finish is in Italy. The planned premiere in the previous season was canceled due to a lack of snow.
