Gut-Behrami takes the lead from Shiffrin in the Ski World Cup

The Swiss remains the ski racer of the moment. In Andorra she wins a hundredth thriller – and thereby pushes the US star from the top of the overall ranking.
The Swiss ski racer Lara Gut-Behrami won the giant slalom in Soldeu and took the lead in the overall World Cup from US star Mikaela Shiffrin.
The 32-year-old fought her way in Andorra moved from ninth to first place thanks to a fantastic second run and celebrated their sixth win of the season. New Zealand’s Alice Robinson came second, just a hundredth of a second behind, and American AJ Hurt came third (+0.15 seconds).
In the overall ranking, the in-form Gut-Behrami is now five points ahead of Shiffrin. The exceptional athlete from Colorado fell heavily on the first of two downhill runs in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, two weeks ago and has been taking a break ever since. Shiffrin has already won the overall World Cup five times. Gut-Behrami has secured the big crystal ball once so far – in the 2015/2016 season.
The only German starter, Emma Aicher from SC Mahlstetten, did not make it into the second round on Saturday in 32nd place. There is another slalom in Soldeu on Sunday.
