Big reception for the eight-time Wimbledon winner Roger Federer (41): The Swiss was honored on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London’s Wimbledon district for his exceptional performance at the world’s most prestigious tennis tournament. Federer is still the player who has won what is now the only Grand Slam tournament on grass most often.
After the short ceremony, in which the audience on Center Court honored him with a standing ovation, Federer and his wife Mirka (45) sat next to Princess Kate (41) in the Royal Box. There, the two watched the most important games of the day together. It started with the match between the defending champion Elena Rybakina (24) and her challenger Shelby Rogers (30).
Federer appeared in a sleek beige suit and purple and white striped shirt and matching black tie with white polka dots. Kate chose an elegant combination of a mint green Balmain blazer with white lapels and large white buttons and a white pleated midi skirt. White pumps, pearl earrings and loose hair completed the look.

The Swiss Federer ended his extraordinary career in September last year. At last year’s Wimbledon tournament, Federer reached the quarterfinals. Princess Kate has been the patron of the hosting club since 2016 and in this capacity regularly visits the box of honor provided for her and the royal family.
About a week before the start of Wimbledon, Kate and the tennis legend had already met on the sacred lawn. They hit a few balls together and watched the ball boys train. Federer praised Kate’s performance on the tennis racket: “The serve looks good.”
Roger Federer and Princess Kate have known each other for years, their families are said to be good friends, reports the British “Daily Mail”. For example, Federer attended the wedding of Kate’s sister Pippa Middleton (39) in 2017 and is said to have even given Prince George (9) a private tennis lesson.
