A man in the Allgäu sent his former tenant on a scavenger hunt for his property because he hadn’t cleared out the apartment six months after moving. As the police announced on Tuesday, the ex-tenant reported the theft on Monday. His former landlord distributed documents and various household items from him at various locations in Rammingen (Unterallgäu district) and sent him geodata of the locations where he can now collect them.
Some objects were found quickly – but by an uninvolved person who took them to the police. The investigators advised against imitating such actions in their communication. “It’s a very original, but legally very questionable way of resolving civil disputes.” The public prosecutor’s office in Memmingen is now checking whether the ex-landlord faces legal consequences.
