In Upper Bavaria, an alleged healer robbed an elderly woman of cash and jewelry worth around 60,000 euros. As the police announced on Thursday, the unknown had spoken to a 63-year-old woman in front of a supermarket in Ingolstadt on Tuesday. She told the elderly woman that she was suffering from a “black disease” and that her valuables were cursed. To break the curse, the scammer persuaded the 63-year-old to take jewelry and cash from her apartment.
The pensioner gave the valuables at a bus stop to the unknown, who reportedly wrapped them in a cloth and spoke formulas in Russian. The scammer then returned the woman an identical-looking package, which she was told to keep under her bed for 40 days. Becoming suspicious, the woman opened the package on Wednesday and found that all valuables were missing. Police are investigating and are appealing for witnesses.
