Aliens in Miami? How this rumor went viral on social media…

The false information spread like wildfire on social networks… After an intervention by the Miami police (United States), called this Monday, January 2 after a riot caused by around fifty teenagers at the Beyside Marketplace, an open-air shopping center located near South Beach (Florida), a rumor reporting the presence of “an alien” began to circulate among Internet users.

According to certain messages posted in particular on the platform shadow, almost three meters high.

A “gray creature” in front of the entrance to the shopping center

Many Internet users have explained that they have detected an alien silhouette in several of the videos that have been published on the Internet. One of them claims to have zoomed in on some videos posted on TikTok and saw a “gray creature” in front of the entrance to the shopping center. It was enough for conspiracy theory followers to seize on this rumor, which in just a few hours went viral.

“I don’t know what bothers me more about this story: the fact that we live in a world where something like this can happen… or that something like this can happen in our world and not a single media outlet published the story,” said one Internet user. “I don’t know if the rumors about aliens at the Miami Mall are real, but I know I’ve never seen so many police in one place,” one X user also posted.

These rumors were quickly denied by local authorities. “What you see in this clip is the shadow of someone walking. If you look at the bottom of the shadow, you can see the person. There are no creatures,” a Miami police spokesperson told TMZ. “There were no aliens,” Michael Vega, the head of public information for the Miami police, also responded to NBC News. “No airports have been closed. Nothing is hidden from the public. Lol,” he quipped.
