Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez arrested at anti-abortion rally (video)

Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was arrested by Capitol Police officers Tuesday in Washington DC after she joined activists in a pro-abortion protest outside the US Supreme Court. She wasn’t the only one. In all, dozens of people were taken into custody by security forces. Among them were several MPs. According to the police, the demonstrators refused to clear the road between the Supreme Court and the Capitol. The protests are directed against the Supreme Court ruling on June 24 overturning the country’s abortion rights. The judges had voted in favor of a corresponding decision. “The constitution does not grant the right to an abortion,” the statement said. While the slogans of the protesters are: “Our body, our choice” and “We will not go back”. The Democrats and US President Joe Biden have now made abortion rights a key campaign issue ahead of the midterm congressional elections in November.
