At Alexanderplatz in Berlin, two stalls at a Christmas market caught fire. The market was cleared on. One of the wooden stalls was completely destroyed.

The Christmas market on Berlin’s Alexanderplatz was evacuated and closed early after a fire. A police spokesman said on Tuesday that one person was taken to hospital with minor injuries after two stalls burst into flames in the evening. Accordingly, the injured person is probably the operator of one of the wooden stalls that caught fire.

Despite the minor damage, the report attracted increased attention on Wednesday. Christmas markets in this country are currently considered to be at risk of terrorism and there is fear of Islamist attacks. The police across Germany have therefore taken stricter security precautions.

Fire broke out at the Christmas market on Alexanderplatz around 8 p.m

“The fire has been extinguished,” the Berlin fire department announced via the X news service around half an hour after the fire broke out on Alex. “The scene is under control!” The cause of the fire was initially unclear, but the police are investigating. The “Bild” (online) first reported on the incident. As a spokesman for the Berlin police told the AFP news agency in response to a request, the fire broke out around 8 p.m. One of the two stands that caught fire was completely destroyed.
