“Every Sunday on your smartphone” – from now on, Aldi Süd will send future offers via Whatsapp on request. This saves time and paper.

Paper prices are rising and the environment is polluted enough: if waste can be avoided, then it should be done. Aldi Süd will make a contribution in the future and will send the prospectus with upcoming offers via Whatsapp on request. Aldi Süd is not the first discounter to offer a digital alternative to the printed brochure, but one with a signal effect. After already rewe and Kaufland have also started sending offers to mobile phones, the ball could finally get rolling and initiate the change from expensive and unnecessary paper brochures to environmentally friendly digital delivery.

Incidentally, Rewe is the furthest along: as early as the summer, it was said that there would be no more printed brochures. According to the company, this saves more than 73,000 tons of paper, 70,000 tons of CO2, 1.1 million tons of water and 380 million kWh of energy per year.

So you always get the latest Aldi offers

In order to receive the offers fresh on your smartphone every Sunday in the future, you have to do the following: Via the official website of Aldi Süd you can register for the service. To do this, scan the QR code there with your mobile phone camera and follow the link – it starts with “bit.ly”. This is correct and indicates a web service that truncates long addresses.

You then end up in a Whatsapp chat with “Aldi Süd”. You can see that this is the right chat – and not a scammer – by the green tick next to the name of the chat partner. A canned message should appear in the text box. You can send this. Within a few seconds you will receive an automatic response in which Aldi asks you to confirm that you want the prospectus to be sent. Two buttons appear below the message. “Start” and “Stop”.

Termination possible at any time, Aldi Nord not yet included

As soon as you press “Start”, you are registered for sending. Aldi is now asking for your zip code so that we can allocate the correct offers to you. Once that is done, you will receive a selection of the surrounding branches. In a menu you can choose which branch you usually frequent. As soon as you have made your selection, you will receive the current brochure – and from now on the latest issue every Sunday. You can write “Stop” at any time to unsubscribe. Aldi will confirm the cancellation immediately.

Aldi Nord does not seem to have jumped on the train yet, there is currently no similar offer north of the Aldi equator.
