Police in the US state of Alabama have arrested two teenagers in connection with the fatal shooting at a birthday party. The two suspects, aged 17 and 16, have been charged with murder, local police officer Jeremy Burkett said on Wednesday. Later in the day, the police tweetedthere had been a third arrest: a 20-year-old according to a report by CNN and the police tweet was also charged with murder.
The act of violence in the small town of Dadeville had caused horror. At the birthday party among young people, four people were killed and many others were injured. One of the youths killed was the older brother of the girl whose birthday was being celebrated. Four victims are still in mortal danger, it was said.
The police still gave no information about the possible motive or the background. It was the first press conference in this case since Sunday. The authorities were extremely reluctant to provide information. The incident in the town of around 3,000 residents occurred at a girl’s 16th birthday party.
