Airbnb in Florida: How a clogged toilet made friends out of strangers – Panorama

When German tourists are angry, they like to consider “legal action”. However, two Florida vacationers decided not to complain when they found the toilet in their accommodation clogged. And the sacrifice was worth it.

Airbnb guests are demanding people. The expensive accommodation booked by you should correspond to the pictures on the Internet in every detail, and the promised view of the lake should not disappear in the fog. And if you announce yourself as a “friendly blended family” but then celebrate a bachelor party, it would be nice if the hosts didn’t see it so narrowly. What burns into guests’ retinas, like a long look at the midday sun, are blemishes like the one Elke Thau-Montgomery and Rudi Thau found in their accommodation in Florida: a completely clogged toilet.

In such a case, it is often a matter of minutes before the guests pack their bags again. Especially since it was “German” vacationers, like CNN in a report mentioned. In other words, members of a group that has been reported to reserve the right to consider legal action even if their own towel has been removed from the lounger. “Most people would ask for their money back and charge for a replacement hotel,” said Jennifer Steinberg, who rents the room with her wife, Beth Ann Moon. But above the Sunshine State, the rating stars were surprisingly good that day.

The hosts brought in craftsmen, the ground behind the property had to be torn up, it must all have been loud and tedious. But the guests didn’t mind. Better yet, they did their bit by stoking a bonfire in the backyard for everyone. Anyone who manages to get along peacefully without a functioning toilet must be made for each other. The four apparently saw it the same way. Anyway, CNN sold his story with the line: “How an Airbnb disaster turned into a wonderful friendship.”
