Air bomb defused in Schweinfurt – Bavaria

After the discovery of an aircraft bomb from the Second World War in Schweinfurt, the dud was defused on Saturday evening. The bomb was found on Friday evening on the premises of a logistics company, as announced by the city of Schweinfurt.

The Bavarian Red Cross tweeted that it was defused around 9 p.m. on Saturday. The “repatriation of the evacuated persons” was then started. To protect the population, the area within a radius of 500 meters around the site was cleared. Train traffic was completely blocked in the afternoon.

According to the police, after an assessment by the disposal company, the bomb weighed around 500 kilograms and not 250, as initially stated. The evacuation area was therefore extended from the original 300 meters to 500 meters.
