Ailing routes: The railway needs 100 billion and a new boss! – Business

Bahn boss Richard Lutz operates whitewashing and distributes tranquilizer pills. Instead, he should tackle problems and tell the government bluntly that the railroad has no future with its outdated rail network.

The head of Deutsche Bahn, Richard Lutz, announced a wonderful message these days: “The trend reversal has succeeded.” The country has been waiting for this news for years. That dilapidated tracks, switches and bridges, dilapidated train stations and stops are finally being renovated. That the trains run more or less punctually and are on the move again at all on quite a few lines that are closed due to construction defects. That outdated routes are expanded and an attractive interval timetable is created nationwide. That the train, in conjunction with buses and other public transport, invites people to switch from the car wherever possible.
