Agreement between Gérard Lopez, King Street and Fortress for the acquisition of the club

According to our colleagues from the‘Team, the soap opera concerning the buyout or not of the Girondins de Bordeaux is coming to an end. While several candidates were still in the running last week, former LOSC owner Gérard Lopez quickly emerged as the only one in a position to negotiate with the owners.

It is now done. Since Monday, an agreement already existed between the Spanish-Luxembourg businessman and King Street. This is also the case today with its main lessor, Fortress, who wanted to avoid going to court and leaving behind the debt granted to the club (38 million euros plus interest). Lopez’s funds also come from investment funds, and Fortress could become part of the club’s capital.

Bordeaux therefore avoids a receivership, but there are two steps left to finalize the operation and ensure to see the Girondins in Ligue 1 next season: settle the question of the rental of the Matmut-Atlantique with the Metropolis (4, 9 million euros per year) and the passage in front of the DNCG. Who will judge whether the financial package is solid enough or not …
