Agathe Rousselle and Jehnny Beth in “Stranger” yet so close

“Stranger”, a foreign name for a short film that sounds familiar. Known in the music world, Jehnny Beth co-directed, with Iris Chassaigne, a film of great gentleness and intimacy, screened as part of Critics’ Week at the Cannes Film Festival. The artist plays and sings, facing his double, the actress Agathe Rousselle revealed in Titanium, the golden palm film by Julia Ducourneau. A story of beings who feel apart, not necessarily in their place, in our society, our work or our body. Poetry filmed, sung, played, brilliantly.

Duality and complementarity

The two actresses, who we feel are very close in life, play with duality and complementarity as they explain in the video placed at the top of this article. We feel a strong emotion and a delicious pleasure to let them complement each other, between music and cinema scenes… Who has never had the impression, like them, of not being in their place? That the world revolved around us, but without us? To finally be a stranger to his body, to his mind?

A short film to be discovered soon in cinemas, for those who broadcast short films before feature films, or otherwise at festivals. Jehnny Beth is releasing her new album soon.
