The US continues its attacks on the Houthis in Yemen. The aim is to protect merchant shipping in the Red Sea. As Washington announced, the infrastructure of the Iranian-backed militia was destroyed again.

The USA says it has again attacked the infrastructure of the Houthi militia in Yemen. Washington said fighter jets had destroyed, among other things, launch pads for missiles. The attack was carried out by F-18 fighter jets that took off from the aircraft carrier “USS Dwight D. Eisenhower”.

The Houthi news channel Al-Masirah reported air strikes on the port city of Hodeidah. The target was a district in the west of the city.

International alliance against Houthis

The Iran-backed Houthis have been shelling merchant ships in the Red Sea, the access to the Suez Canal, for weeks – according to their own statements, to help the terrorist organization Hamas in the Gaza Strip fight against Israel. The US has launched an alliance to protect merchant shipping because the attacks are affecting international trade.

At the end of last week, the USA attacked Houthi targets in Yemen for the first time. British aircraft were also involved. According to US information, six attacks have now been carried out – but this has not stopped the Houthis from continuing to attack ships.
