after the resounding arrival of Lewis Hamilton, Sainz announces his departure from Ferrari

As a result of the arrival of Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari in 2025, Carlos Sainz announced this Thursday his departure from the Italian team at the end of the 2024 season.

He is the collateral victim of the transfer of the century in Formula 1. In the wake of the resounding announcement of the arrival of Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari from the 2025 season, Carlos Sainz (29 years old) spoke to clarify his future within the Italian team. Unsurprisingly, the Spanish driver will leave the Scuderia to make way for the Briton. He himself announced it in a press release.

“Following today’s information, the Ferrari team and I will separate at the end of the 2024 season, indicates Carlos Sainz. We still have a long season ahead of us and, as always, I will give my best for the team and for fans around the world. News about my future will be announced in due time.”

A rebound at Sauber?

Arriving at Ferrari in 2021 from McLaren, Sainz won two Grands Prix in the colors of the Scuderia: Silverstone in 2022 and the Singapore GP in 2023.

With the arrival of Lewis Hamilton at Maranello in place of Carlos Sainz, the game of musical chairs is therefore launched for the 2025 season. The majority of drivers entered this year see their contracts expire at the end of 2024. Among them – in addition to Sainz who could bounce back to Sauber in 2026 (which will then become Audi) – the Thai Alexander Albon, currently at Williams, could claim the vacant seat left by Hamilton next year.
