After the fiasco of the film “Plush”, promoted by Kev Adams, 19 people file a complaint

It was a great project… on paper. Remember, in 2022, with other personalities like Camille Lellouche or Maître Gilms, comedian Kev Adams promoted a 100% French and entirely participatory animated film. The project was called “Plush” and was due to be released last February in cinemas. But the film is a fiasco and according to information from RMC19 investors in the project are now filing a complaint with the Marseille court.

To better understand why, we need to go back to the very DNA of the project. To co-produce the film Plush, you had to buy a teddy bear NFT (Non-fungible Token) for the modest sum of 1,250 euros. In return, investors would receive generous profits based on the film’s returns. A beautiful promise.

“Against the editors and against the influencers”

The problem ? The film Plush was never released because it would not have raised enough funds despite the financing of 770 individuals with a total of more than one million euros invested. 19 of these participants therefore filed a complaint for breach of trust, deceptive commercial practice and receiving stolen goods. “We have filed a complaint against both the promoters of the project and against the influencers and public figures who spoke on social networks to highlight the project”, specified their lawyer Maître Emma Leoty, to RMC .

A measure with a dual objective: to reimburse participants, but also to fight against the promotion of the film by public figures. “These public figures should have measured their words in promoting this film by explaining that potentially investing involves risks. And therefore there must be a very strong legislative framework which governs these practices so that the consumer, who is the party deemed to be weak in the contract, is truly protected.”

Near RMC, the man behind this project, Fabien Tref, indicates that no return was promised, but only the possibility of making profits. He adds that the NFTs ordered were delivered.
