The US says it has bombed command centers of pro-Iranian militias in Syria and Iraq. The attacks come nearly a week after three US soldiers were killed and dozens injured in attacks in Jordan.
After the violent deaths of three US soldiers in Jordan near the Syrian border, the US said it launched retaliatory attacks on targets in Syria and Iraq. The airstrikes targeted more than 85 targets linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and the militias it supports, the US military said.
Syrian state media reported US attacks on areas in Syria – including near the border with Iraq. Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said six pro-Iranian fighters were killed in suspected US strikes in eastern Syria.
Three of the fighters killed in attacks on positions of pro-Iranian groups near al-Majadin in Deir Essor province were not Syrians, Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman said. USA had Retaliatory actions announced
On Sunday, three US soldiers were killed for the first time in a drone attack by pro-Iranian militias in Jordan near the Syrian border. Around 40 other soldiers were injured. US President Joe Biden blamed radical militias supported by Iran. Iran had denied involvement. On Friday, Biden attended the arrival of the remains of the killed US soldiers at an air force base in the state of Delaware.
