Now things are moving after all, it’s about time. His official plea for clemency was received by the Ministry of Justice and the Federal President on Wednesday. And if nothing comes of it, there’s still the president’s traditional Christmas amnesty, which he’s hoping for. After all, Alexander Van der Bellen considered seven prisoners in his “Christmas mercy campaign” last year. Maybe Julian Hessenthaler, one of Austria’s most prominent prison inmates, will be there this time?
