Animals usually ensure good ratings on television. Wherever an animal suffers, the viewer also suffers. That’s why a veterinary practice seems to be an ideal filming location for new television films.

The slot “Finally Friday on First” is to be filled with a new series. In two “Women for all skins” features Bettina Zimmermann and Meriel Hinsching as veterinarians. Filming is currently underway in Leipzig and Naumburg as well as in the surrounding areas of both cities, the Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR) in Leipzig announced. The scripts for the first two films are also included Anja Flade-Kruse wrote the working titles “New Beginnings” and “Fathers and Daughters” and Stefan Bühling is directing. The ensemble of actors includes Kai Schumann and Wolfgang Stumph.

Even the film “New Beginnings” is about life and death. On the way to her practice, a dog runs into the car of Naumburg veterinarian Maja Freydank (Bettina Zimmermann). She is therefore late for an appointment with Julia Kramer (Meriel Hinsching), whom a hospital group has assigned to her as a future colleague. Because Maja’s boss Reiner Rückert (Karl Kranzkowski) is retiring and wants to sell his practice to the company. As the two women examine the injured dog, it quickly becomes clear that there is much more to the case. Because the dog was intentionally made sick. The puzzle must be solved in a race against time.

Healing animals isn’t enough in “Fathers and Daughters” either. This time it’s about an entire herd of cattle and the future of a family business. The two veterinarians have now taken over the practice on their own. “Two Women for All Skins” is a production by 307 production GmbH on behalf of ARD Degeto Film and MDR for ARD. The editorial team is Adrian Paul and Oliver Rauch (both MDR) and Stefan Kruppa (ARD Degeto Film). Filming is expected to last until June 10th, it was said.
