“The biggest supporter of Hamas’s terror is Iran,” says the FDP politician. Germany and its partners would have to stop financing the Islamist group.

After the Islamist terrorist attack Hamas on Israel, the chairwoman of the Defense Committee in the Bundestag, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann (FDP), called for a tougher approach towards Iran. “The biggest supporter of Hamas’s terror is Iran,” she told the Germany editorial network. That is why Germany, together with its partners in the European Union and the USA, must expand the sanctions against the country.

Furthermore, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards should be classified as a terrorist organization by the EU. “Europe must stand together for Israel and take all possible steps at the international level to stop the financing of Hamas by Iran and states like Qatar as well as private donors,” said Strack-Zimmermann.

Such a classification as a terrorist organization would enable the EU states to freeze assets of the Revolutionary Guards that exist in the EU. The USA classified the mullahs’ elite paramilitary force as a terrorist organization in 2019.
