Because the fine proceedings came to a standstill due to a hacker attack, 3,000 speed offenders in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district go unpunished.

Around 3,000 speed offenders benefited from the major cyber attack on the Ludwigslust-Parchim district administration last autumn. Your fine proceedings could not be processed in time and were discontinued. According to a spokesman for the district administration, it is mainly about speed violations from the period between mid-October and the end of December last year. However, fine proceedings that are longer in the past are also affected, in which the driving licenses were revoked. First, the “Schweriner Volkszeitung” reported about it.

The perpetrators are still unknown

After the hacker attack on the servers of the municipal IT service provider, it was said that no owner queries could be made and no contact could be made with the Federal Motor Transport Authority. Access to the data from the driver’s license office was also not possible. During a cyber attack in October 2021, the servers of the Schwerin IT and Servicegesellschaft (SIS) and the Mecklenburg Municipal Service (KSM) were partially encrypted by malware. After the hacker attack, most of the systems in the district were shut down and only gradually started up again. The state capital Schwerin was also affected by the attack. There, 357 cases of speed and parking offenders had to be stopped due to the statute of limitations, as a spokeswoman said. It is still unclear who is responsible for the attack.
