After his attack with dog excrement on a critic last weekend, the question arose in the case of choreographer Marco Goecke as to how the houses that employed him would react – now there are first and only partially clear answers. The Hanover State Opera, which had become a crime scene and then suspended Goecke on Monday, declared the separation from its previous ballet director. His contract was terminated with immediate effect and by mutual agreement, said director Laura Berman at a press conference in Hanover on Thursday. However, Goecke’s plays would continue to be performed. Until further notice, the ensemble he hired will be temporarily managed by his deputy Christian Blossfeld.
