Kate and William thank you for the many supportive messages they received following the announcement of Kate’s cancer diagnosis.

Princess Kate (42) and Prince William (41) met for the first time after Kate’s video message on March 22nd made her cancer diagnosis public. A spokesman for Kensington Palace said according to BBC in a statement: “The Prince and Princess are very touched by the kind messages from people here in the UK, the Commonwealth and around the world in response to Her Royal Highness’s message.”

Princess Kate retires with family

Kate and William are “very touched by the public’s warmth and support and are grateful for their understanding of their request for privacy during this time,” the statement continued. As BBC reports, the thank you message can also be seen as a polite warning that the family continues to value their privacy.

The couple’s message could be their last message for a long time. Prince George (10), Princess Charlotte (8) and Prince Louis (5) began their Easter holidays last Friday afternoon and the family will retire together. According to the BBC, children will not return to school until April 17th.

As the US magazine “People” reported, Princess Kate, her husband and their children will not take part in the traditional Easter service in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. But in their place, King Charles (75), who is suffering from cancer, should at least aim to take part in the important service. The 75-year-old “hopes” to be able to make the trip to St. George’s Chapel in Windsor next weekend.

Princess Kate published her touching video message on Instagram and X. The clip in which she talks about the “big shock” of the diagnosis quickly received well-wishes and encouraging words. For the video, almost five million users tapped the heart symbol under the posting (as of March 24th). Numerous politicians and celebrities also made their own social media posts and showed their support for Princess Kate and her family.
