The scores of the BVB players after the 2-2 draw against FC Bayern.

Borussia Dortmund showed on Saturday evening that they can keep up with FC Bayern. This time it was above all the will of the players that led to the deserved 2-2 draw. This is how we rate the performance of BVB professionals.

1. Goal and defense

TW – Alex Meyer – Grade: 4/10: Could have probably gotten the ball with better positioning on the first goal. When he conceded the second goal, his save was simply too weak.

LV – Raphael Guerreiro – Grade: 7/10: With his forward drive and his dangerous long-range shots, he repeatedly caused danger in the opposing half-field.

IV – Nico Schlotterbeck – Grade: 8/10: Brought the dramatic equalizer fantastically with a butter-soft cross, and he was only slightly guilty defensively.

IV – Mats Hummels – Grade: 6/10: Was surprisingly in the starting eleven, but the 33-year-old defense chief had to, according to the Ruhr news be substituted at half-time due to circulatory problems. His action probably came too soon.

RV – Niklas Süle – Rating: 6/10: Had to temporarily occupy the right flank due to Thomas Meunier’s short-term absence. Defensively he withstood the opponent to some extent, but unsurprisingly little came from him offensively. Moved into the middle in the second half.

2nd midfield

ZM – Salih Özcan – Rating: 5/10: I’ve had better games in BVB dress before. Rarely was he able to stop Bayern counterattacks and was not an offensive factor. Was therefore substituted after 53 minutes.

ZM – Emre Can – Grade: 6/10: Was able to compensate for his sluggishness and footballing deficits with his experience and aggressiveness and was therefore a defensive factor in particular.

ZM – Jude Bellingham – Grade: 6/10: Was lucky that his dangerous game against Alphonso Davies in the first half was not punished with a second yellow card. Not a brilliant game for the Englishman, but a solid performance.

3. Storm

LA – Julian Brandt – Grade: 6/10: Was often on his own in counter attacks, which led to ball losses, especially in the later stages of the game. With his excellent technique on the ball, Brandt remains a player who should always be on the screen in Dortmund.

ST – Youssoufa Moukoko – Rating: 8/10: Was initially noticeably strong in pressing and thus repeatedly put the opponent under pressure. Afterwards he rewarded himself with a great goal to make it 1:2. Was substituted just before the end of the game, possibly because he was injured.

RA – Donyell Malen – Grade: 5/10: The Dutchman continues to struggle to use his speed to his advantage. He hardly posed any danger on the wing and was therefore substituted in the 70th minute.

4. Substitute

RV – Marius Wolf – Grade: 6/10: Almost scored a goal from a deflected shot shortly after the start of the second half, then had difficulties with Kingsley Coman on the wing.

RA – Karim Adeyemi – Grade: 7/10: Extremely dangerous on the wing after being substituted on. Outlasted his opponent Josip Stanisic with a powerful move and almost scored when Anthony Modeste missed his big chance.

ST – Anthony Modeste – Grade: 8/10: The man of the evening. Set up Moukoko’s 2-1 and scored the last-second equaliser. No one will blame him for missing a 100 percent chance before that.
