After a rear-end collision in Unterhaching: woman has to be resuscitated – Munich

After a seemingly harmless rear-end collision, a 42-year-old Munich woman had to be resuscitated on Wednesday. The woman was lucky that a Bundeswehr soldier was there who had just completed a three-day first aid course and immediately took resuscitation measures.

The woman had turned off the Autobahn 995 in her car at the Unterhaching-Nord exit at around 5:35 p.m. in the early evening and stopped at the junction with Münchner Straße due to traffic. A 55-year-old from the Munich district noticed this too late and drove up his van, causing minor damage to both cars. The 42-year-old initially stayed in her car and said she felt sick; shortly afterwards she lost consciousness. Two uninvolved road users, including the soldier, got the woman out of the car and began resuscitation because there was no longer a pulse.

The emergency services took the woman to the hospital. As it turned out, she suffers from long QT syndrome, a rare disease that can lead to cardiac arrhythmias and cardiac arrest in stressful situations.

The motorway exit and the access road to the district road were completely closed while the accident was being recorded; traffic was rerouted.
