The search for a young person from Bad Emstal has been ongoing since Wednesday evening. On Thursday, the police found a body in a forest area in the Kassel district.

Update from Friday, September 29th, 7:38 a.m.: After a dead 14-year-old was found in a forest near the Bad Emstal district of Sand (Kassel district), investigations into the exact background are continuing on Friday. The police now assume that the dead woman was a girl who had been missing since Wednesday, as the officials announced late in the evening.

The area where the body was found was cordoned off on Thursday. The fire brigade helped to illuminate the area in the evening so that the criminal police and forensics department could continue their work into the night.

The teenager left her home around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening and had disappeared since then. Relatives therefore reported her missing on Thursday night. The officers also publicly searched for the 14-year-old at times. However, the search for the girl remained fruitless – until the body was found. During the search for the 14-year-old, the body was discovered late on Thursday afternoon in the forest near Bad Emstal. Investigators are not ruling out a crime. At first, the cause of death was not clear.

First report from Thursday, September 28th, 3:13 p.m.: During the search for a 14-year-old who had been missing since Wednesday evening, a lifeless woman was found on Thursday in a forest area near the Bad Emstal district of Sand. The police announced this in the evening. The Kassel criminal police now assume that the woman found dead was the 14-year-old from Bad Emstal who had been missing since Wednesday and who the police had already been looking for.

According to residents, the sirens sounded in the town around 4:30 p.m. Fire and police forces, ambulances and rescue helicopters were on duty. The body was discovered around 5:30 p.m., police said. However, an emergency doctor who was alerted could only determine that the young woman was dead.

According to the police, it was not yet clear whether the dead woman was the missing girl. The identification process initially continued. Late in the evening, the police confirmed that it was the missing teenager.

The site was still largely cordoned off for forensics that evening. The criminal police have started investigations on site. “The cause of death is currently unclear,” the police said on Thursday evening. Third-party negligence could not be ruled out.

“In view of the ongoing forensic investigation, further findings will probably not be announced until tomorrow, Friday,” the police said.

In Bad Emstal there is currently great concern. Candles were lit in the town in memory of the dead teenager. Hundreds of users also expressed their condolences to the family on Facebook. The search message had already been shared there many times. Many users hoped that the search would have a good outcome.

Dead 14-year-old in Bad Emstal: Police were looking for witnesses in the search for missing people

The police had been publicly searching for the missing 14-year-old girl from Bad Emstal-Sand since Thursday afternoon and were asking for information from the public. According to residents, a parallel search was underway in the forest for the 14-year-old. Some of her clothes were eventually found.

The 14-year-old left her home yesterday evening (September 27th, 2023) at around 6:30 p.m. and then did not return. Concerned relatives then filed a missing person report with the police during the night.
