For a year and a half, the Free State of Saxony has been working on a problem called Jens Maier. The former AfD member of the Bundestag and ex-judge wants to return to the Saxon judicial service, but Justice Minister Katja Meier (Greens) has now initiated two procedures to prevent this. From their point of view, it is unthinkable that someone like Maier – who is attributed by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution to the ethnic AfD wing around Björn Höcke – would from now on dispense impartial justice for people of all origins and skin colors. This Thursday, the ministry prevailed: The Federal Court of Justice (BGH) declared Maier’s retirement to be legal. This means that the 61-year-old will retain his pension. However, he will no longer return to the judicial profession.
