AfD meeting: parliamentary group leader declares Halemba case “closed”

On the At the AfD party conference last weekend, a majority actually demanded that Halemba resign his mandate should. Ebner-Steiner, who is close to the officially disbanded right-wing extremist “wing” around Björn Höcke, declared the Halemba case “closed”. The 22-year-old MP from Lower Franconia has since announced that he wants to keep his mandate.

The majority of the group obviously supports this: they have agreed on the motto “one for all, all for one,” said the group leader. She claimed the “Bavarian way of life” for Halemba: “This live and let live – that must also apply here, and that is why we have decided that this matter is over for us too.”

Party with racist chants: AfD MdLs “not involved”?

This also applies to the two AfD MPs who admitted to having been at a party at the weekend where xenophobic slogans were sung. According to Ebner-Steiner, the faction members Benjamin Nolte and Franz Schmid explained themselves. Their conclusion: “The two MPs were not involved, they didn’t sing and that’s the end of the matter for us.” The state security agency is currently investigating because of the apparently racist events in a discotheque in Greding, where the AfD party conference took place at the weekend.

“Government program” with “Go-home plan”

Although there are currently no state elections in Bavaria, at the end of the meeting the AfD parliamentary group presented – as they titled it – a “government program” for Bavaria. Under the subheading “Geh-Hoam-Plan or Remigration Plan”, alluding to the private meeting near Potsdam, the party outlines its refugee policy. Among other things, there should be push-backs at the Bavarian borders, the AfD wants to “consistently deport” “illegal migrants”, “criminals and Islamist threats” and the party wants to sue both the Free State and the federal government for their refugee policy.

“Re-Migration”: AfD faction does not want to position itself on Sellner’s plans

Parliamentary Managing Director Christoph Maier explained the meeting near Potsdam with one of the leading figures of the Identitarian Movement, Martin Sellner, which was attended by representatives of the AfD from Bavaria, among others: It was about “issues of the time that concern us all “burning on the nails”. He has no position on Sellner’s definition of “re-migration”. But there are always private discussion groups and these should also take place.

AfD parliamentary group leader has allowances paid

Contrary to previous practice in the AfD parliamentary group, the parliamentary group leadership is now being paid for their services again. The group decided this before Christmas. Shortly after the election of the new parliamentary group executive committee in mid-October, parliamentary managing director Christoph Maier claimed that there were no allowances for the parliamentary group executive committee – as is usual with other parties. Now the change. The parliamentary group leadership did not want to provide any information on Thursday about the amount of the allowances.
