In the debate about the controversial AfD member of the state parliament Daniel Halemba, developments are coming to a head shortly before a state party conference on Saturday. At the meeting in Greding, a motion from more than 150 members called on the 22-year-old Halemba to resign his mandate in parliament “immediately”. The state executive board is accused of “lack of transparency, looking the other way and sugarcoating” the matter. This could lead to harsh, public arguments. The Würzburg public prosecutor’s office is investigating the fraternity member for suspected incitement around his fraternity house. In addition, preparation meetings for his candidacy for the state parliament in Lower Franconia are said to have been influenced by false residence reports. The AfD federal executive board called on the Bavarian leadership to initiate a party expulsion process in December.
