Aeroflot – deputy chief resigns and leaves the country – economy

The Russian attack on Ukraine is causing personnel turbulence in Russian air traffic. On Saturday, the deputy chief of the largest Russian airline Aeroflot, Andrei Panov, announced his exit and indicated a connection to the Ukraine war. “We left Russia. I left Aeroflot. The old life is over,” wrote Panov on Facebook. Since 2018, he has been Deputy Director General for Strategy, Service and Marketing of the state-owned company.

The successor will be the previous boss of the Aeroflot subsidiary Rossiya, Sergei Alexandrowski, as reported by the Interfax agency. Andrei Kalmykov, head of the low-cost airline Pobeda, which also belongs to the Aeroflot group, had previously resigned. Aeroflot CEO Mikhail Polubojarinow had personally been sanctioned by the EU.
