In 16 days, 120 teams want to travel from Hamburg to the Arctic Circle and back. Now they started at the fish market. There are 7,500 kilometers, nine countries and challenges ahead of them.

Whether in an old VW Beetle, a historic Porsche 911 or on the Motorcycles – 120 teams with vehicles that are more than ten years old set off from Hamburg’s fish market towards the Arctic Circle.

As part of the “Baltic Sea Circle Winter Edition” they want to arrive at the North Cape within the next few days – and return to Hamburg on March 10th. In doing so, they have to face several challenges – apart from the cold of up to minus 40 degrees Celsius. This means that they are not only traveling without a navigation device and GPS, but instead have to rely on a map, compass and their wits. They are also not allowed to use motorways and must also complete various tasks along the way.

According to the organizers, the teams come from 18 different countries. On their journey north they have to cross nine countries – in addition to Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. According to the organizer, in Marijampolė, Lithuania, the participants want to form a peace sign with their cars.

Each team also collects money on a donation platform that goes to a good cause. The adventure trip to the North Cape has been running since 2011. Since then, more than four million euros in donations have been collected.
