‘I love being a woman’: Adele comments on gender-neutral award

She was the big winner of the evening: Adele received three Brit Awards. For the first time, the prize for the “Artist of the Year” was awarded gender-neutrally – which the singer did not leave uncommented.
It was the expected triumph: Adele received several awards for her return after a five-year break on Tuesday evening at the Brit Awards. The 33-year-old received the three most important awards: her comeback single “Easy on Me” was named “Song of the Year”, the associated album “30” received the honor of “Album of the Year” and also in the Adele was able to triumph in the most important category.
For the first time in the history of the Brit Awards, the prize was awarded in a gender-neutral manner. Previously, the category was divided into Male and Female Artist, i.e. separated by gender. This time there was only one award as “Artist of the Year”.
Adele won, outperforming prominent artists like Ed Sheeran. In her acceptance speech, the Brit couldn’t resist a tip: “I understand why they changed the name of this award, but I really love being a woman and a female artist,” she called out to the 20,000 spectators in the packed O2 -Arena in London. Previously, she had congratulated the defeated Little Simz, who was honored as the best young artist.
Adele thinks about her ex
It got emotional during her acceptance speech for the “Album of the Year”: Adele dedicated the trophy to her son. She tearfully added: “and Simon his father”. The singer was in a relationship with businessman Simon Konecki from 2011 to 2019, and their son Angelo was born in 2012. In the songs on “30” Adele deals with the separation from her husband. “The album was our journey together, not just mine,” said the singer. Adele said she was proud of herself for releasing such a personal album.
Meanwhile, many viewers discussed a possible engagement: Adele wore a striking piece of jewelry on the ring finger of her left hand that looked suspiciously like an engagement ring. The singer has been dating sports agent Rich Paul for a few months.
Not only for the singer – it would also be good news for the music fans: Adele’s best music has always been fed by her private life.
