During the week, Queen Elizabeth II had spent one night in the hospital for health reasons. According to a report, she still plans to travel to Glasgow in early November.

Despite a health-related break and a short stay in the hospital, Queen Elizabeth II (95) still wants to travel to the climate conference in Glasgow in early November, according to a report.

“She is fine, but she needs a break – she is gathering her energy for the COP26,” an unnamed source close to the British Queen told the Times. Together with heir to the throne Prince Charles, grandson Prince William and their wives, the Queen wants to meet heads of government from all over the world in Glasgow.

On medical advice, the monarch had given up alcohol in recent months, another source reported to the newspaper. Before that, the Queen liked to enjoy a gin for lunch or a martini in the evening.

One night in the hospital

The Queen reportedly returned to “light tasks” at Windsor Castle over the weekend, such as reading documents from the red boxes that were delivered to her every day. During the week she had spent one night in the hospital, according to the palace, for precautionary tests. The doctors are currently waiting for results to be able to give further recommendations to the queen afterwards.

The royals want to support the Queen even more at appointments in the future: at least one of their children or grandchildren should be there every time they visit, the Telegraph reported on the weekend, citing insider sources. The public will not be disappointed if the Queen cancels appointments at short notice, as happened a few days ago with a planned visit to Northern Ireland. In the past few months, the queen has mostly been accompanied by family members.
