Acunmedya joins Sport 1: Is the deal politically charged? – Media

What takes a long time finally comes to fruition – but whether this also applies to the sale of Sport 1 remains to be seen. At the end of February it was announced that the Turkish media entrepreneur Acun Ilicali, through his production company Acunmedya, which also owns the Turkish television station TV8, was taking over 50 percent of the shares in the ailing station Sport 1 for 30 million euros. The station is part of Sport 1 Medien AG and was put up for sale last summer by the parent company, Swiss Highlight Communications. At the same time, management was replaced. The industry magazine Clap initially also brought Pro Sieben Sat 1 and Axel Springer into play as interested parties.
