She’s worked with pretty much every Hollywood great. But she’s been herself for a long time and doesn’t have to hide from anyone. Now Kirsten Dunst turns 40.

In March, during the Oscars, there was renewed speculation about Kirsten Dunst and her relationship with actor Jesse Plemons.

The couple has been engaged since 2017, but there have been rumors about the parents of two sons that the two have already married. But because the couple wants a big celebration for the wedding and the corona pandemic has prevented this so far, there has been no confirmation so far. Actress Kirsten Dunst turns 40 this Saturday (April 30).

Acting since early childhood

The daughter of a German father and a German-Swedish mother grew up with her younger brother in Los Angeles. She was born in New Jersey before her parents separated. At the age of three she appeared in a commercial. In general, she was regularly the face of advertising in her career and has appeared in over 70 spots so far. She has also been an international brand ambassador for L’Oreal Professionnel since 2014.

As a child model, she continued to be in the public eye and got her first small film role in Woody Allen’s “New York Stories”. Just a year later she was already in front of the camera with Tom Hanks in “Purgatory of Vanities”.

Breakthrough alongside Hollywood legends

In the years that followed, she celebrated her breakthrough in the film business through engagements in all kinds of major productions. In 1994, she starred alongside Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt in Interview with a Vampire. She was nominated for a Golden Globe for her role. The next box office hit followed a year later with “Jumanji”, when she starred with Robin Williams.
The Spider-Man films followed in the early 2000s, in which she played Mary Jane Watson and became an iconic film duo alongside Tobey Maguire. The third part was her most commercially successful film in 2007.

Dunst retired from public life for two years in 2008 due to her depression.

Successful comeback

After feeling able to work as an actress again, she made her comeback in 2010. For her role as a melancholic-depressive bride in Lars von Trier’s apocalyptic film “Melancholica” she was awarded the Actor’s Prize at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival and nominated for the European Film Prize. In 2016 she was a member of the jury in Cannes. In 2015 she was nominated for an Emmy and a Golden Globe for her leading role in the second season of the TV series Fargo. She was also nominated at the last Oscars. However, her performance as Rose in the literary adaptation of “The Power of the Dog” was ultimately not rewarded with the award.

Kirsten Dunst has had a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame since 2019. She supports several cancer organizations and designed a necklace, the proceeds of which were used to fight AIDS.
