The film awards season is progressing – and Sandra Hülser is among the hot contenders. Is she heading to the Oscars?

actress Sandra Hülser is grateful for the international recognition she is currently receiving. In the past few days alone, the 45-year-old has received a Golden Globe nomination, the European Film Prize and a US Critics’ Prize.

When asked about her Golden Globe nomination, she said: “I am beyond grateful for the many nominations from the Hollywood Foreign Press for ‘The Zone of Interest’ and ‘Anatomy of a Case’, including mine. The nominations show that we all are connected to each other, regardless of origin. These two films speak a universal language for everyone. I’m happy.”

Hülser plays the leading role in Justine Triet’s legal drama “Anatomy of a Case”. Her subtle yet meaningful performance in the film has earned her great praise since its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. The film won the Palme d’Or there. The second most important prize at the festival went to the historical drama “The Zone of Interest” by Jonathan Glazer, in which Hülser plays the wife of Auschwitz commandant Rudolf Höß alongside Christian Friedel.

On Monday it was announced that Hülser, who comes from Suhl and lives in Leipzig, has a chance of winning a Golden Globe for “Best Actress in a Film Drama”. Both “Anatomy of a Case” and “The Zone of Interest” are also nominated. The trophies are scheduled to be awarded on January 7, 2024.

The next big step in the film awards season for Hülser would be the shortlist of Oscar nominations, which will be announced on December 21st. The nomination list itself will be announced on January 23rd – and the Oscar awards ceremony will be on March 10th.
