Thomas Loibl and Karl Ove Knausgård stood in front of the Literaturhaus in Munich and smoked. It was after a reading. The Norwegian Knausgård read from his book, Loibl read the German translation. They spoke little as they stood and smoked. “You are an actor?” asked Knausgård, are you an actor? “Yes,” Loibl answered briefly. Both took a drag on their cigarettes. Be silent. “In Munich?” Knausgård asked. “Yes,” Loibl said. “And you live in Oslo?” Loibl asked back. “Yes.” “Good.” Then they went back inside.
