The 47-year-old is happy with his job. Nevertheless, he can also imagine alternatives – also because he likes to be in nature.

The actor Christian Erdmann, known from the ZDF “Ostfrieslandkrimis”, did not see his career in television and theater coming.

“Despite acting ambitions in school and amateur theater, I couldn’t imagine sitting in the theater canteen as gray and tired as the actors in my hometown back then, with the best will in the world,” said the 47-year-old to the dpa news agency .

“I wanted to be a social worker,” Erdmann recalled. “But after doing community service in a residential home for people with disabilities, I knew that although this work would give me pleasure, it would sap all my strength in the long run.” In the meantime he is quite happy with it – but sometimes also tired and gray, according to the actor. “I certainly romanticize both professions – but shepherd or dairyman would still be a conceivable alternative for me, especially if it gets too loud, too fast, too much.”

Enjoy the emptiness in your head

Erdmann, who now lives in Düsseldorf, can best switch off outside. «For me, nature is actually the place where I prefer to be – nowhere else can I find peace, relaxation and strength so quickly, so deeply and so long-lasting with so little effort. Almost everything is put into perspective when you look at what was there with the greatest possible naturalness for so long before me – thoughts organize themselves and the emptiness in the head feels phenomenal, »says the actor. He likes to do sports, often and preferably outside – hiking, climbing, cycling, soccer, basketball. Indoors, he uses the yoga mat and rowing machine.

Erdmann can be seen this Monday at 8:15 p.m. in the ZDF drama “A Risky Decision”. He plays a father who is desperately fighting for the life of his sick daughter – also trying to put pressure on social media.
