Accused by several women, comedian Seb Mellia “denies any non-consensual sexual relations”

Eleven women testify in Télérama about the comedian’s actions and behavior. Some accuse him of sexual assault or rape. According to Seb Mellia’s lawyer, the latter does not rule out filing a complaint for public defamation.

Comedian Seb Mellia, accused by eleven women of sexual assault or rape, “denies any sexual relations or exchange of non-consensual messages” report our colleagues at Telerama.

In an investigation conducted by the magazine, eleven women testify to actions committed between 2010 and 2022 by Seb Mellia, some even accusing him of sexual assault or rape. Three of them are also comedians and the other eight are spectators of his one-man shows.

Three women intend to file a complaint

Still according to Télérama, three of the women who accuse the comedian have made known their intention to file a complaint for the facts they accuse Seb Mellia of.

The comedian denies the accusations made against him and affirms – through the voice of his lawyer – “having never heard of any suffering or any grievance on the part of a partner, and even less of ‘an accusation of rape or other criminal conduct’.

“To his knowledge, no complaint has been filed against him and, even if this were the case, he calmly waits to be heard in the context of a possible investigation,” assures Seb Mellia’s lawyer to our colleagues.

She finally indicates that her client does not rule out “taking several legal actions, in particular for public defamation”.

“I deny all accusations of rape”

Before the Télérama investigation, Seb Mellia had already been the subject of accusations after the call launched by the comedian Florence Mendez to denounce sexist and sexual violence in the world of entertainment: “I launched an appeal in January and very quickly, I received several testimonies concerning Seb Mellia”, she confides to our colleagues at Politis.

Last January, while Seb Mellia was in full performance at the Cirque Royal in Brussels, he was interrupted and heckled by several people who accused him of being a “rapist”. “It’s not here that I could explain myself in fact, there is justice for that, there are courts, and there I can do nothing,” Seb Mellia replies to them.

In a message published on January 22 on his Instagram account, the comedian said he “regretted” and apologized for having been able to “offend some of his partners in the past.”

“However, there are lines that I have never crossed and I deny all accusations of rape in any way,” he assured, “I am in no way the monster described by some.”
